I made a rookie mistake

Static Stats:
Running: 4.5 miles
Sleep: 7 hours!!  Woo hoo
Temp. 88 degrees 78% humidity

Much like any other runner, I love new running shoes.  I know the minute I need a new pair.  I'm not really sure how I know or how to describe the exact feeling, but I know.  This time around I tried to convince myself that I just wanted a new pair, not actually in need of a new pair.  I was wrong.  I started having this slight foot pain after running.  Indicating I need and want new shoes.  The last pair I had I marked on my gmail calendar as to when I had my first run.  Running shoes are suppose to last for 400-500 miles.  According to my calendar based on a minimum of running 30 miles per week, not including the walks I often take after my run I was approaching the 400+ mark.

One should always have a pair of newer running shoes ready to go so that the second the foot pain starts you can start in with the new pair.  I did not follow this logic.  I just didn't want to spend the money on new running shoes if I didn't really need them.

Here is the rookie mistake.  With a mere 8 days to the NYC 1/2 I was in need of new shoes.  Textbook mistake. Never do a long run in shoes you haven't practiced in.  The guy at my favorite running store in PA assured me that I would only need about 20 miles to break them in.  It wouldn't be a big deal if I had been able to get the exact shoe I was running in.  (It would have been the 4th pair of that exact model)  Of course the model changed and I had to go up a 1/2 size from my normal running shoe size.  So far they feel great.  To date they have 8 miles on them.  12 miles to go.

Thanks Sister, but do you think you could pray that it just gets cancelled until my hair grows long enough for a ponytail?
